The Braves bullpen is one of the team’s strengths going in 2012. The trio of Craig Kimbrel, Johnny Venters and Eric O’Flaherty is the best in baseball, but a fitting nickname has never been found. O’Ventbrel isn’t a nickname, it’s annoying.
A couple weeks ago I suggestedThe Untouchables to Kent Covington and he’s written an excellent article about the problem with O’Ventbrel. Braves beat writer Mark Bowman is on board so there’s a chance…. right?
The Untouchables is hardly a new concept. I just Googled “braves untouchables” and found this article by Jayson Stark. Stark goes as far to say…
Three Strikes is here to make the case that we’ve never run across ANY bullpen tag team as unhittable and as untouchable as the Braves’ two game-shrinkers have been so far in 2011.
During last year’s off-season I created a twitter account dedicated to the Atlanta Braves. I had a blast going through the ups and downs of the season despite the fact 2011 ended up being the mother of all facepalms for the Bravos. With only 81 days until opening day hope springs eternal.
During the 2012 campaign I’ll post some quick thoughts during the season. There are a lot of great blogs that will go into a lot more detail. This Braves tumblr will be a way to cope. Even if the Braves win 100 games in 2012 that means 62 pain inducing losses.
