I’ve posted this before and I’ll keep posting because it’s true. I just need to add Medlen to the picture somehow.
The Atlanta Braves won their first game of the season wearing the Friday Red beating the Pirates 6-1. AJ Burnett pitched for the Pirates and kept the Braves at bay, but the Bravos got to the bullpen in the 7th to extend the lead.
Tommy Hanson pitched six solid inning and Kris Medlen finished the game with a three inning save. I can’t rave enough about how great the bullpen has been. The Untouchables of Medlen, Venters, O’Flaherty, and Kimbrel are in mid-season form and thanks to a rejuvenated offense they’re not getting overworked. If this continues the Braves are going to have an amazing season.
One negative is that McCann left the game with a strained intercostal muscle in his chest. He’s day to day, but I doubt the Braves will want to rush him back after what happened last season.
The Braves finished an outstanding road trip with a 4-2 win against the Dodgers. That gives the Braves a 5-2 record on this road trip. Beachy pitched very well, but left the game trailing 2-1. The Untouchables kept the Dodgers off the board until a 3 run rallying in the ninth.
The Braves improve to 12-7 on the season and we’re winning in different ways. Blowouts, comebacks, and pitching gems.
The win guarantees that this will be the best April for the Braves since 2007.
The Braves improved to 4-2 on this roadtrip with a 4-3 win against the Dodgers last night. Minor had another solid outing and the Untouchables of Medlen, O’Flaherty, and Kimbrel took care of the rest.
Chipper hit another home run. This one was a monster shot deep into the bullpen.
The Braves won last night in more conventional fashion. Dan Uggla put the Braves ahead with a solo home run and the pitching took care of the rest. The Untouchables came in after Hanson’s strong start and closed things up.
The Bravos have won 10 out of 11. Today they go for the four game sweep.
Nice win last night at the home opener. Another short start for a Braves starter. We’ve now tied the record for consecutive short starts to start the season. We can break the record tonight.
Eric O’Flaherty surrendered a 3 run lead but the Braves bats were able to plate two more. Venters and Kimbrel took care of the rest.
Braves win 6-3 to win the series against the Astros. Heyward had a big night and had his first home run of the season. Delgado pitched okay. He got in trouble in the 4th and had to throw a lot of pitches. We need the starters to pitch deeper into games to take the pressure off the bullpen.
What can you say about the Untouchables? Another great night for the bullpen. It hasn’t been a great roadtrip, but I’ll take 2-4. After getting swept and blowing the game Monday getting two wins is huge.
Time for the home opener.
